Are DVD -R/W dics a good medium for backing up data too?
EDIT: Sorry, I got interupted when I was making this post. I want to add that I am asking in regards would a backup last a few years with out becoming unreadable or something.
And how reliable is writing to a R/W vs. a R in terms of am I gonna pop my R/W backup in the drive someday to restore my docs and find the disc is pooched?

I have no idea. I havent used R/W media for a long time. My experience has been that I just never wrote over them. I ended up burning em and leaving them that way. Especially for a backup. I dont know for sure, but I would suspect that the write once media would have the longest life, but I dont have any data to back that up. Perhaps the qualify of the drive that made the backup has more to do with the life of the media? Strong laser or atleast better qualify with a good optical detector would be my guess.
